Heroin is a very dangerous and addictive drug. It belongs to the group of pain-relieving drugs known as narcotics. HEROINE DRUG TESTING METHODS

There are 4 ways to detect the presence of heroin in an individual’s body. They are – urine test, saliva test, blood test and hair test.

URINE TEST

Standard urine tests can detect the presence of heroine in one’s body within 24-48 hours after the use. Urine test is the most commonly used test to know whether a person has taken heroin or not. This test is both affordable and easy to administer. There are two stages of test. The first stage involves the collection of urine sample from the suspect and the second stage is the testing process.

SALIVA TEST

Saliva tests are increasingly becoming popular way of testing to detect the use of illicit drugs. This method of testing is non-invasive which involves the collection of a swab from the suspect’s mouth. Saliva tests are used to detect the use of heroin for long period as it stays in the saliva for 1-4 days.

BLOOD TEST

Blood test is more expensive test to detect heroin use when compared to other tests. It is proved to give more accurate results than any other test. It needs trained medical personnel for the collection of sample. It is the most expensive test to administer.

HAIR TEST

Hair test reveals the use of heroin over a week ago. It is relatively less expensive than blood test. It gives accurate results and is a less invasive method than blood test. A sample of hair is taken for analysis.
